Robert Combas
Born in Lyon, Robert Combas spent his childhood and adolescence in Sète. He entered the Montpellier School of Fine Arts in 1975.
Leader of the artistic movement baptized by the artist Ben “free figuration” in 1981, he is considered one of the most important contemporary French artists since the 1980s and is the only one to appear every year in the Artprice ranking of the 500 most popular contemporary artists in the world.
His inspirations come from popular culture: rock music, punk, graffiti and comics.
The themes addressed in Robert Combas’s painting are battles, sexuality, love with naturalness and simplicity.
